Matt graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a degree in History and attended the University of Arkansas School of Law at Fayetteville. In addition to his studies, Matt served as a law clerk in the Washington County Public Defender office for much of his law school years. He was sworn into the Arkansas Bar in 2022.
Matt joined Legal Aid of Arkansas as a staff attorney and worked there for two and a half years, primarily practicing family law in addition to estate planning. In that time, he gained extensive experience litigating cases representing both plaintiffs and defendants. While at Legal Aid, he worked on two medical-legal partnerships, one specializing in helping people suffering from or impacted by substance use disorder, and another specializing in veteran’s law. As part of these, he was able to meet a wide variety of people, diagnose their legal needs, and represent or advise them while hosting a weekly helpdesk for any veteran who needed it.
Message from Matt:
Born and raised in Little Rock, I’ve known since I was born what it was like to have someone with special needs in their family. I’ve seen firsthand the unique challenges as well as the best way to ensure the happiness and welfare for that individual and their family.
I knew when I started law school in 2018 that I wanted to do work that would be able to help people who otherwise would have been on their own. I’ve been lucky to do that so far with the Washington County Public Defender and Legal Aid of Arkansas, and am excited to work alongside my mother and join the good work she has been doing.
No matter what field of law one works in, there is one constant: To provide the best possible representation or advice to your client. Whether that means representing you at trial, providing an estate plan best suited for you, or just providing a bit of advice, I have been there and am ready to do whatever it takes to get you the result or documents you need.
